I became a fan of McAlister’s Deli when my daughter was a student at Texas Tech University.
When I would spend the weekend with her in Lubbock, we would often stop there for a soup, salad or sandwich for lunch.
Not only was it quick and easy, the food was always great.
So when the announcement was made last year that a McAlister’s Deli was opening at The Stable in Stephenville, well, I was pretty dang excited.
Construction on the restaurant has begun, and Jeff Sandford, executive director of the Stephenville Economic Development Authority, told me an opening target date has been set for June.
“The Stable development is proving to be an attractive location for new investors, especially in the food service industry,” Sandford told Beneath the Surface News. “The popularity of McAlister’s Deli is well-documented with customers, however their entry into this development is also attracting interest from other well-known eateries.
“We are thankful for the Saxton Group and look forward to welcoming McAlister’s this summer to the Stephenville community.”
Guests who enter the restaurant will be greeted by a self-order kiosk, beverage station and community table designed for study groups.
“We seek out opportunities to evolve the guest experience,” said Adam G. Saxton, co-CEO and owner of The Saxton Group. “With a tenured team, user-friendly technology and numerous ordering methods, the new restaurant will accommodate every lifestyle. We are excited to serve our friends in Stephenville using the avenue that best suits them.”
The Saxton Group plans to hire between 75 and 100 employees at its Stephenville location.
The restaurant will mark the group’s 73rd McAlister’s Deli location and 34th in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Sandford said The Stable has room for up to seven restaurants and is “heavily recruiting” a number of other sit-down eateries interested in coming to Stephenville.
